Smart City is a concept and program being promoted with a focussed approach by the Indian Government and around 100 cities in the country have been identified to be developed as Smart Cities. Smart cities are envisioned to be a living place which is connected, secured, sustainable and accessible for its residents. The key components for the development of a Smart City, besides the urban planning, infrastructure design, management of basic facilities and governance, are efficient urban mobility, citizen safety, smart information dissemination and smart transit infrastructure for the citizens.
